The Christmas Spectacular!

Well? The Christmas Spectacular was....definitely spectacular! We had such an amazing time. Great people, amazing music, delicious food, and the snow cones were a hit! Thank you, Kitestring, for giving us the opportunity to be part of such an amazing event for such a great cause. You can see more pictures here.

Christmas Prep...

Our weekend was busy with prep for the Christmas Spectacular! We're so excited - we can hardly stand it! Get this: milk and cookies from Cake & Loaf, coffee from Red Hill, grilled cheese from Gorilla Cheese, cupcakes from Cupcake Diner...we feel so honored to be participating in an event with all these lovely businesses!

Now for the flavor announcement: we've come up with two new flavors for this very special Christmas occasion, and we're sticking with one oldie, due to popular demand.
Flavor 1: Cranberry Clementine Cosmo
Flavor 2: The Gingerbread Cookie
Flavor 3: The Apple Jack (tried and true!)

We used fair-trade organic spices for the Gingerbread syrup - it takes JUST like a cookie!
Juicing clementines was something new! We can't wait to debut the Cran-Clem Cosmo...
In other exciting and Christmas-related news, our dear designer Julie (from Jubilee Art & Design) made us Christmas buttons for the Spectacular! The Button Pushers donated the shells for these beauties, and we spent a nice evening pressing them in front of the Christmas tree. Make sure you get yours at the dance party! Merry Christmas, and see you on Friday!

Spectacular News!

Have you heard about the Kitestring Christmas Spectacular?

So, you can buy tickets to the whole night (pageant + dance party) for $16, or you can buy a ticket to just the dance party portion for $5. This is a charity event for Hamilton's Culture for Kids in the Arts. $16 pays for one month of arts programming for one deserving Hamilton kid - such a great cause, right? You can learn more about this charity (CKA) and buy your tickets here.

We'll be serving up snow cones at the dance party, with all money from the drink tickets going towards CKA! Stay tuned for announcements about our special Christmas flavors!

Montreal!

This past weekend we headed out to Montreal, along with our husbands and a few other friends. We had an awesome weekend relaxing in an amazing stone cottage, and exploring the city. There's so much to see that you can basically just walk around, and keep discovering really awesome shops and restaurants...
Here are a few pictures from our weekend:

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has come and gone, and what an amazing weekend it was. We have a few dear friends who live here in Hamilton, and are far away from their families. It’s no good to spend holidays away from your family, so we thought we’d plan a nice ‘family dinner’ for some of the people we love so much.

Cake + Loaf was a must-stop for us, with their pies and their delicious cranberry sauce (with orange, sage and rosemary). The girls who own Cake + Loaf are SO nice, and it’s always such a pleasure to go in there. Our friend Meag made the turkey - a huge free-range 17-pounder! We had mixed drinks (courtesy of Sweet Ice/left overs from our dance party…) and everyone made the most amazing food. Add all that to an amazing long table in Meg’s living room, with 18 wonderful people sitting around it, and you get the best Thanksgiving dinner ever…

Even More Dancing...

First order of business: Who won the private snow cone party!? We had so many people purchase their tickets ahead of time, and we're so pleased with the enthusiasm! You guys LOVE snow cones! The winner was chosen at the party, and it was the lovely Jenn Arnold! Congrats Jenn!
As promised - we have more dance party pictures! We had such an amazing time! It really was the perfect way to end the Sweet Ice season. It’s been a few weeks since the party, and we’ve already had SO many requests for another one. (Hmm, New Years?)
DJ Donna Lovejoy absolutely killed it on the 1’s and 2’s, and Anne was the best bartender we could have asked for. We took turns on snow cone duty, and spent the rest of our night dancing away. It really was the most fun night ever! More pictures here.

Dance Party!

WHOA!! Our dance party happened! And it was SO MUCH FUN!
We hope you were able to make it - we couldn’t believe the turnout! And the dancing! And the great music! And we’re just so floored that everyone loved our mixed-drink snow cones SO much! We were so flattered to see lineups the whole night! (Pardon the exclamation marks - we’re basically on cloud nine over here…)
That’s all for now, we’re still resting up…but we did get a few sneak peeks from our photographer! More pictures coming soon!

Ottawa Street Sidewalk Sale!

We were at the Ottawa Street Sidewalk Sale this past weekend. It's so amazing to see the excitement and movement that is happening on Ottawa Street! The weather was great, and we got to meet this little one - our new Sweet Ice ambassador!

Last week we were at another really great event on Ottawa Street - the Sew Hungry food truck rally. Basically, a whole bunch of local food trucks line up on the street over lunch time, and you can just take your pick. We might participate next year, if our trailer is finished, but this year we just went and indulged in delicious food!
More pictures of the food truck rally here and here. If you haven't been to Ottawa Street, you're missing out on a great area of this city. Take a trip over there, and check out some of the shops and restaurants!

Open Streets

Sweet Ice took part in Open Streets on Saturday. What a great event! Basically, they close down James St, and people can just meander through the street at their own pace. There was a really diverse crowd, and it just seemed that everyone was in the best mood possible. We got to make some lovely new friends, including a carrot!
